About

Llntact is a non-governmental organization (NGO) representing participants and organizations partnerships from over 20 nations, dedicated to providing essential tools for preserving and ensuring housing and urban infrastructure for residents of troubled areas. Improved urban resilience will safeguard economical and infrastructural development gains for future generations.

Llntact was established in Germany as an organization based on a private investments and public contributions system, working in cooperation with international organizations. The Llntact international campaign was launched in December, 2014, in order to advance the solutions for rebuilding communities in accordance with the principles of the United Nations conference resolutions on human settlements (HABITAT II) Istanbul (Turkey, 1996).

Llntact aims to facilitate and encourage greater public- and private-sector investment in urban resilience which is crucial for eliminating poverty and promoting shared prosperity in conflict prone areas. Llntact strives for a sustainable and equal society and focuses on cross-border housing and public services, and the social injustices found within these. We aim to change the present pattern of foundations destruction that results from local conflicts, and eliminate the constant need to 'start from scratch' by ensuring smart planning and investments in transportation, housing, schools, health services, telecommunication, and water and power supplies.

We recognize cities and municipalities as centers of society, generating economic growth and social, cultural and scientific advancement to all communities. Our cities must be places where human beings lead fulfilling lives in dignity, safety, and hope. Communities are interdependent in their development; raising one will benefit the others in its vicinity. We aim to improve the urban habitat, and to extend adequate infrastructure, and public services to conflict prone areas in order to enhance their economic attractiveness, develop an integrated network of opportunities, and thus minimize social conflict.

Our mission

We are committed to our objectives, with a sense of urgency, due to the continuing deterioration of conditions of housing, public services and infrastructure. A comprehensive agenda for the equitable attainment of peace, justice and democracy is built on economic progress, social development and environmental protection as interdependent and mutually reinforcing components of providing a balanced and prosperous society for all.

Leveraging private equity, grants and contributions from private donations and from international organizations such as the World Bank and the UN, we aim to intensify our efforts and cooperation to improve living conditions in cities, towns and villages throughout the world facing risks and uncertainties. We pride ourselves in taking a broad, inclusive approach to tackle the highly interrelated challenges that urban areas face, finding the way to improve complex situations day by day.

Llntact is determined to help understand risk and act to reduce it, by enforcing improved building regulations standards, protecting lives and property from both chronic and acute disasters. We define the drivers of risk in the built environment, advance national-level legislative framework, and establish and support new building code development.

What we do

Resilience rebuilding projects ensure that transport, healthcare facilities, energy networks, and waste and water facilities will be conflict and/ or climate resilient, and contribute to the wellbeing of communities and the economics of nations.

To improve the quality of life within cities, we must combat the deterioration of conditions that in most cases, is a result of constant conflict, by comprehensively addressing resilient rebuilding of cities.

Decisions that communities and cities make today about investment, infrastructure, and land use are vital for increasing resilience. By providing thorough analysis and information and working in unification with community leaders it is possible to minimize disasters losses, and prevent affected citizens from descending into poverty.

What's new

Technology is reshaping the infrastructure landscape in multiple ways, changing both asset appeal and the way things are constructed. Llntact empowers communities by resiliently building their technological infrastructure to provide a bridge to a successful development. Factors such as technology risks, commercial feasibility, regulatory standards, construction risks, and political and currency risk, are all weighed in and considered in our detailed reports and recommendations.

Llntact is constantly updated in the latest innovative solutions by supporting R&D of specific innovative technologies and their application in building and retaining resilient urban areas. The researchers are working to identify which technologies have the most potential to enhance urban resilience, then implement these technology applications in needed locations. Examples to these technologies are Al technology and machine learning to gather data and analysis to support informed decision making. Another example is utilizing drone technology to map out areas, reach difficult trouble areas and assess the situation of water supplies, roads and agricultural fields. We are excited and optimistic about the ideas that may shape the future of resilient infrastructure and welfare of communities.

Projects

The challenges of urban areas are global, but countries and regions also face specific problems which need specific solutions. Below is a partial list of the projects we support.

Iraq 2016

The conflict in Iraq created staggering levels of destruction. Hundreds of thousands have lost their homes and livelihood in their efforts to build a cohesive, non-sectarian future for Iraq.
Schools, hospitals, roads and homes are still a potential minefield filled with by unexploded artillery and explosive devices. Many neighborhoods are essentially uninhabitable. The international community will continue to stand with Iraq as it recovers from the devastation of the infrastructure and housing necessities.
Due to the long timelines associated with major infrastructure projects and economic reforms, Llntact provides much needed support to determine how to rebuild with resilience, thus improving the chances of an urban community and minimizing associated risks.
The enormous task ahead required both funds and technical support. To support the UN efforts already in place, Llntact has taken upon itself to make it possible for hundreds of thousands of displaced people to safely return home and rebuild their lives with dignity, hope and opportunity.

Syria 2018

Llntact supports the ongoing efforts in Syria to maintain infrastructure and facilitate resilient housing and shelter to the population. As preservation of education, culture and heritage are key to successfully rebuilding communities, we work in full cooperation with local community leaders.
Reconstruction efforts are well under way, focused on rebuilding with resilience, planning land use designation, rebuilding infrastructure, and directing investments in a manner beneficial to the community in the long run.
Reconstruction and development programs must go hand-in-hand with a strategy to prevent the recurrence of destruction. With Llntact's assistance, planning for the future is essentially incorporated in today's designs. We direct preparedness and response plans. We provide clear, coherent, information and step by step guides to help leaders make informed urgent decisions. We establish building regulations and implement strategies for minimizing damages in the long term, offering hope and opportunity to the local people. Opportunities for all, reconstruction and economic recovery are key to compromise and political stability, for the greater good.
